SITUATION

La Baie du Moulin-à-Baude et « Les Dunes »The Observatoire d’oiseaux de Tadoussac (OOT) is situated 300 km northeast of Québec City at Tadoussac (Québec, Canada) within the limits of the Parc national du Saguenay (sector Baie du Moulin-à-Baude). The observation and ringing of migrating birds is done from a marine terrace also known as the Dunes of Tadoussac. The terrace, which is just downstream from the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord, is 60 metres above sea level and overlooks the marine estuary of the St. Lawrence. The site is characterized by a subpolar and subhumide continental climate (mean annual temperature 2.5ºC, mean annual precipitation 900-1000 mm)* and falls within the balsam fir-yellow birch bioclimatic region.

BIOCLIMATIC REGIONS COVERED

The birds recorded from mid-August up until the end of November originate from the following bioclimatic regions: the Arctic, the taiga, the Boreal forest, the maritime estuary of the St. Lawrence and the northern limit of the mixed forest.
