FAQs

WHY CHOOSE TADOUSSAC AS THE SITE FOR A BIRD OBSERVATORY ?

The installation of a bird observatory at Tadoussac is justified by:

  • the important concentration of birds that are observed at the site each autumn;

  • a large diversity of species associated with the diversity of the surrounding environments;

  • the fact that it is an open and accessible site that lends itself to the observation and banding of migrating birds;

  • the passage of an important proportion of Boreal forest nesting bird species;

  • the framework of the Parc national du Saguenay and the public demand for ecotouristic activities.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO COME AND WATCH THE AUTUMN MIGRATION AT TADOUSSAC ?

The forecast of a passing cold front and/or of a north-westerly wind are, generally speaking, good indicators that conditions will be favourable for migration. Here is a graph that shows the migration dates for the principal species of raptors observed at the OOT. This will help you plan your visit according to the species that you wish to observe.
